Our electricity and solar-friendly plans are award winners
We’ll be the first to say it: energy supply in Australia is complicated.
Here at Elysian, we’ve made it our mission to make your energy bills more transparent with no hidden catches. It’s why we’ve cut out new connection fees, exit fees and credit card fees, and have abandoned complicated discounts to put fair and representative pricing in their place. Across all these efforts, we’re also prioritising energy sources that are better for the environment and your budget.
And it seems the experts have noticed. Financial comparison site Mozo has just pinned multiple medals to our residential energy plans for the 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Energy Awards, including gold in the Best Electricity and Best Solar-friendly Electricity categories.
The team of expert analysts at Mozo analysed 842 products from 47 energy retailers for the awards, with pricing being the key driver in how they research and select winning plans.
“To conduct our awards calculations we take a set of customer scenarios that consider the different distributor areas in each state and several different levels of energy usage. This helps us assess price variables and find the cheapest options for different kinds of residential energy customers,” Mozo Expert Judge Peter Marshall said.
“Elysian’s streamlined pricing for electricity that removes complicated fee structures, as well as it’s notable feed-in tariff rates for solar-friendly plans, made it a stand-out contender in the 2021 awards,” Marshall said.
We’re extra chuffed to have been recognised for our solar plans. Australia is one of the sunniest countries in the world and we are a global leader in uptake of solar power, with the CSIRO finding solar panels at one-in-four Australian homes at the end of 2020. So it makes sense that solar and other renewable energy sources which limit harm to the planet should be leading industry developments.
When assessing solar-friendly plans, Mozo looked at the cost of drawing energy from the grid on the assumption that some percentage of a household’s energy needs would be met by solar-generated power. They also considered feed-in tariffs (FiT) earned by selling unused solar power back to the grid.
As the team at Mozo notes, energy pricing is complicated and dependent on where you live. That’s why they break-up their awards into state-specific winners, so you know exactly where to look for the best energy supplier.
Our electricity plans shone in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, with our offers in ACT and Tassie also bringing home awards for solar-friendly plans.
