Concession card holders may be required to change energy plan to receive a concessions on their energy bill.
Annual Electricity Concession
17.5 per cent off household electricity bills.
The concession is calculated after retailer discounts and solar credits have been deducted.
The concession does not apply to the first $171.60 of the annual bill. This is calculated as a daily rate on each bill.
Eligible if customer is a holder of a:
• Pensioner Concession Card
• Health Care Card
• DVA Gold Card
Medical Cooling Concession
17.5 per cent of electricity usage and service costs between 1 November and 30 April.
During this period the Medical cooling concession is given in addition to the Annual electricity concession.
Eligible if a customer is a holder of a:
• Pensioner Concession Card
• Health Care Card
• DVA Gold Card
and
• Has a medical condition that affects their body's ability to self-regulate temperature; or
• Has a household member with such a medical condition.
Pre-approved conditions are:
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Lymphoedema
• Parkinson’s disease
• Fibromyalgia
• Post-polio Syndrome/Poliomyelitis
• Motor Neurone Disease.
Applications for other conditions must be approved by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Utility Relief Grant Scheme (URGS)
The grant provides help to pay a mains electricity, gas or water bill that is overdue due to a temporary financial crisis.
Eligible if customer is a holder of a:
• Pensioner concession card
• Health care card
• Department of veterans’ affairs gold card
If you don’t have one of these cards but are part of a low-income household, you may also be able to apply. Call us and we will ask you some questions to check if you are eligible before issuing a form.
The grant is available to renters and homeowners.
You can only apply for a grant on an active account.
You must show that you have no way of paying the account without assistance, and
You must meet one of the following criteria:
• You or someone in your house has experienced family violence.
• You have had a recent decrease in income, for example, lost your job
• You have had high unexpected costs for essential items
• The cost of shelter is more than 30% of your household income.
The amount of the grant is based on the amount you owe at the time of application.
It is also based on the reasons you have given for applying in your application form.
You can receive a maximum of $650 on each utility type in a two-year period (or $1,300 for households with a single source of energy (for example, electricity only).

Life Support Concession
The Life Support Energy Concession helps eligible VIC households cover the costs of their energy bills.

Low Income Household Rebate
The Low Income Household Rebate helps people through a rebate ( a credit on each energy bill) up to a total of $285.00/year. The amount is calculated as a daily amount.
You can apply for the Low Income Household Energy Rebate if:
-you’re a NSW resident
-you’re an account holder of an energy retailer
-you hold one of the following:
Pensioner Concession Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) or Services Australia
Health Care Card issued by Services Australia, or
DVA Gold Card marked with either ‘War Widow’ or ‘War Widower Pension’, or ‘Totally and Permanently Incapacitated’ (TPI) or ‘Disability Pension’ (EDA).
How to apply
1. Call your Elysian Energy on 1300 671 799
2. Provide your concession card or Health Care Card details.
3. Agree to the Concession Verification statement
4. Ask for the NSW Low Income Household Rebate to be applied to your account.
More information
-The primary energy account holder must hold one of the valid concession cards.
-A household can only receive one Low Income Household Rebate each financial year.
-The rebate is only applied to your principal place of residence.
-Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders are not eligible for this rebate.
Family Energy Rebate (retail customers)
The Family Energy Rebate helps eligible households pay their electricity bill if they have dependent children and received the Family Tax Benefit payment from the Commonwealth Department of Human Services. The Family Energy Rebate gives eligible energy account holders a credit on an energy bill of up to $180.
-You can apply for the Family Energy Rebate if:
-You’re a NSW resident
-You’re an account holder of an energy retailer
-Have been the recipient of the Family Tax Benefit (FTB) for the previous financial year and have had your entitlement to the FTB payments finalised by Centrelink.
-Ensure the person in your household who’s registered as the FTB recipient, lodges the application. The recipient is the person who receives correspondence on FTB from the Department of Human Services (DHS).
Before you apply you’ll need to have:
-Lodged your tax return for the last financial year with the Australian Taxation Office. If you or your partner didn’t need to lodge a tax return, notify the DHS of this. They cannot finalise your FTB until they have this information.
-Received a confirmation letter from DHS that your FTB has been finalised for the last financial year.
When you’ve done both these things, you’re ready to apply for a rebate. You’ll also need:
- Your Services Australia Customer Reference Number (CRN)
- Your Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) number (if applicable)
- Your personal and contact details
- A copy of your recent energy bill.
Life Support Rebate
-
The Life Support Energy Rebate helps eligible NSW households cover the costs of their energy bills.
The rebate is for NSW customers who need, or have someone living with them who needs to use approved energy-intensive medical equipment at home. The equipment must be essential for supporting life, such as home dialysis, ventilators and oxygen concentrators.
Medical Energy Rebate
The Medical Energy Rebate helps people who hold eligible concession cards pay their electricity bill if either they or someone living with them has an inability to self-regulate body temperature when exposed to extremes of environmental temperatures (hot or cold)
Eligibility
You can apply for the Medical Energy Rebate if you or someone living at the address of the eligible customer:
-is a NSW resident
-is an account holder named on the bill of an energy retailer
-has an inability to self-regulate body temperature
-has been assessed by a registered medical practitioner (who is not the applicant) who has been treating them for at least 3 months
-meets at least one Primary Qualifying Condition and at least one Secondary Qualifying Condition
-holds one of the following concession cards:
*Pensioner Concession Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) or Services Australia
*Health Care Card issued by Services Australia, or
*DVA Gold Card.
What you need

-your personal and contact details
-your medical practitioner to complete and sign the relevant sections of the form

More information
-If you’ve been treated by different doctors from the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) for at least 3 months, you may still be eligible for the rebate.
-If you change your energy supplier, tell them you receive the rebate, so you can continue to receive it.
-You’ll receive the rebate as approximately $71.00 credit on each quarterly energy bill, up to a total of $285.00/year. The amount is calculated daily.
-Commonwealth Seniors Health Cardholders are not eligible for this rebate.
Seniors Energy Rebate
The Seniors Energy Rebate is available for eligible independent retirees to help cover the cost of their electricity.
To be eligible you need to hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC). CSHCs are means-tested concession cards issued by Services Australia and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).
The Seniors Energy Rebate is $200 per household, per financial year. If your application is successful, the rebate will be paid directly into your nominated bank or Credit Union account.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must:
- be a NSW resident
- have a valid CSHC from Centrelink or the DVA
- be the primary account holder named on the electricity bill
- be applying for the rebate for your primary place of residence.
What you need
- your valid CSHC from Centrelink or the DVA
- the most recent electricity bill for your current primary place of residence
- your contact details
- your bank or Credit Union account details.
How to apply
- Check you meet the eligibility requirements
- Select the 'Apply online' button.
- Enter the required details.
- Submit the application.

If you’re unable to apply online, visit a Service center or My Service NSW on 13 77 88
If your application is successful, you’ll receive a payment within 5 working days into your nominated bank/Credit Union account. Service NSW will contact you if there are problems issuing your payment.
If your application is unsuccessful, you’ll be notified during the application process.
The rebate is not automatically applied each financial year. You need to reapply if you want to receive it the following year.
Energy Accounts Payment Assistance scheme
If you're having difficulty paying your current household energy bill because of a short-term financial crisis or emergencies, such as unexpected medical bills, or reduced income due to COVID-19, you could be eligible for Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) $50 vouchers.
To be eligible, you must:
• have an electricity or natural gas account for a NSW residential address, which is your primary place of residence and the account must be active at the time of your assessment (all other accounts are not eligible)
• be the electricity or natural gas account holder (your account and bill must be in your name)
• be experiencing a short-term financial crisis or emergency that has caused you financial hardship and impacted your ability to pay your current residential energy bill (in part or in full).
You’re not eligible if you:
• use liquid petroleum gas (LPG) bottles for your gas supply; however, you may be eligible for a gas rebate
• are residing in embedded networks
(e.g. some strata plans, retirement villages and residential parks)
• have already paid your energy bill
• have a business account
• are not the account holder and the bill is in another person’s name
• have closed your energy account.
To apply online, you'll need:
• a MyServiceNSW Account
• 2 proof of identity documents – the names on the 2 documents must match and also match the name on the supply address on the electricity or natural gas account
• your personal and contact details (name, date of birth, address, email and phone number)
• a copy of your current electricity and/or gas bill, which includes your:
o first and last name (your account and bill must be in your name)
o energy retailer's name
o energy account number
o National Meter Identifier (NMI) number for electricity bills, or
o Delivery Point Identifier (DPI)/Meter Installation Registration Number (MIRN) for gas bills
• confirmation that you're currently on a hardship plan with your retailer (if applicable)
• evidence of financial crisis, such as a termination notice or medical expenses (optional).
You can apply for EAPA vouchers:
• online to be assessed by NSW Government representative, or
• by calling an approved non-government EAPA provider.
To apply online:
1. Check the eligibility requirements.
2. Select the 'Apply online' button.
3. Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
4. Follow the prompts to submit your application.
After applying online:
1. You will receive an email confirming your application.
2. A NSW Government representative will call you within 2-4 weeks to assess your eligibility for EAPA vouchers. The assessment may involve a 3-way call with your energy retailer, including discussing energy hardship plans and further assistance.
You can apply to be assessed for EAPA vouchers by calling an approved non-government EAPA provider such as Anglicare, Salvation Army and Wesley Mission.
Contacting an EAPA provider may be more suitable, if you:
• prefer an in-person assessment (offered by some providers)
• don’t have an email address
• need other support, such as no-interest loans, financial counselling, and clothing or food assistance.
Appliance replacement offer
Eligible residents can get a discount when replacing an old, inefficient fridge or television.
What’s on offer?
When you replace your old, inefficient model, you can receive:
-40% off the cost of a fridge
-50% off the cost of a television
The offer applies to selected fridge and television models.
Who’s eligible?
To replace your fridge, your current fridge must be at least ten years old.
To replace your television, you must own a plasma or cathode ray tube (CRT) television.
To receive this offer you must be a NSW resident and hold one of the following:
-Pensioner Concession Card
-Health Care Card or Low Income Health Care Card from Centrelink
-Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card

Queensland Electricity rebates
Queensland pensioners and seniors may be eligible for the Electricity Rebate—$340.85 per year (GST inclusive). Please note, all rebates are GST inclusive. Rebates for eligible cardholders may appear as GST exclusive on bills.
Eligibility
Rebates are available to people who have any of the below:
• Queensland Seniors Card
• Services Australia Pensioner Concession Card
• Services Australia Health Care Card* (Electricity Rebate only)
• Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card (and receive the War Widow/er Pension or special rate TPI Pension)
• Asylum seeker status—residents will need to provide their ImmiCard details (Electricity Rebate only).
* This includes holders of a Low Income Health Care Card and Ex-Carer Allowance (Child) Health Care Card.
To be eligible, you must be the electricity account holder and also live alone or share your principal place of residence with (only) any of the below:
• your spouse
• other people who hold a Services Australia Pensioner Concession Card or Queensland Seniors Card
• other people wholly dependent on you
• other people who receive an income support or families payment from Centrelink who do not pay rent
• other people who receive an income support payment from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and who do not pay rent
• other people who live with the cardholder to provide care and assistance, and who do not pay rent.
If you live in a caravan park or multi-unit residential building (e.g. apartment), you must also show that your electricity or reticulated natural gas is paid, based on metered consumption.

You will need to provide certain details and have copies of your bills and concession card handy so you can verify your eligibility. Rebates are automatically deducted from your bill.
Life Support Concession
The Queensland Government provides an electricity life support concession for eligible people who are seriously ill and use a home-based oxygen concentrator or kidney dialysis machine.
This concession is to contribute to the electricity cost of running these machines.
QLD Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme
The Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme helps with electricity costs for people who have chronic medical conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, autonomic system dysfunction, significant burns or a severe inflammatory skin condition, which is aggravated by changes in temperature. It currently provides $340.85 (including GST) per year to eligible applicants (eligibility is reviewed every two years).
Eligibility
You must:
-Be a Queensland resident and
-Have a qualifying medical condition and need cooling or heating to stop your symptoms becoming significantly worse. Qualifying medical conditions include:
*Multiple sclerosis
*Autonomic system dysfunction
*Loss of skin integrity or sweating capacity
*Severe compromise of functioning such as mobility at extremes of environmental temperature
*Hypersensitivity to extremes of environmental temperature leading to increased pain or other discomfort or an increased risk of complications and
-Live at your principal place of residence, which has an air-conditioning or heating unit.
The applicant and/or legal guardian of a minor with a qualifying medical condition must:
-Hold a current Pensioner Concession Card or a current Health Care Card and
-Be financially responsible for paying the electricity bill.
If you are already receiving the Electricity Rebate or other energy concessions, you can apply for this concession.
Full details of eligibility for the concession including qualifying medical conditions are listed on the application form. Your medical specialist must fill out the medical certification section.
How to apply
To apply, complete the MCHECS application form:

And post your application to the address listed on the form.
If you do not have access to a printer, email concessions@smartservice.qld.gov.au to be sent a copy.
If your application is successful, you’ll receive $340.85 per year, with $85.22 paid into your bank account each quarter.
Renewing your eligibility
You must re-apply for the concession every two years.
If you have a permanent medical condition:
-You won’t need a new medical certification
-You will need to confirm that your concession card status or living arrangements haven’t changed.
If your original application indicated a temporary need for heating or cooling:
-You will need a new medical certification and
-You will need to confirm that your concession card status or living arrangements haven’t changed
Queensland will contact you six months before your concession approval expires and send you a new application to complete. If you do not return this new application, your concession payment will stop being paid.

You must notify any of the following changes immediately:
-Address
-Bank account details*
-Eligibility for the scheme
* For security reasons, you should send changes to your bank account details in writing.
You do not need to notify anyone if you change your electricity retailer to continue to receive this concession.

QLD Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme
The Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme:
-Is for Queensland households experiencing problems paying their electricity or reticulated natural gas bills as a result of an unforeseen emergency or a short-term financial crisis
-Is one-off emergency assistance to help with paying your home energy bills
-Pays up to $720 once every 2 years.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must be responsible for paying the outstanding bill (the bill does not need to be in your name) and meet one of the following:
-hold a current concession card, or
-have an income equal to or less than the Australian Government’s maximum income rate for part-age pensioners. Contact Centrelink for details of the maximum income rate.
-be part of Elysian Energy’s hardship program or payment plan.

SA Energy bill concessions
Eligible South Australians on low or fixed incomes can apply for help with the cost of energy bills for their principal place of residence.
The concession amount is indexed each financial year. For 2019/2020, you may be eligible to receive up to $226.67. The concession amount covers both electricity and gas payments (including LPG bottled gas) – Please note Elysian Energy does not provide gas retail services in South Australia.
Your concession will be applied directly to your electricity bill.

You must:
-Live at the property
-Be listed as an account holder on your energy bill
-Hold an eligible concession card or receive an eligible Centrelink payment
-Not be living with anyone who has an income of more than $3,000 per year, unless they either:

Changing retailers
When changing energy retailers, your name must:
Be listed as an account holder on your electricity bill
Match your Centrelink or DVA card.
Phone the ConcessionsSA Hotline on 1800 307 758 once you have received your first electricity bill from your new energy retailer.
Note: energy retailers in South Australia cannot transfer your concession, you must contact ConcessionsSA.
Changing address
If you move to a new house, you must update your address details with Centrelink or DVA before contacting ConcessionsSA.
Phone the ConcessionsSA Hotline on 1800 307 758 once you have received your first electricity bill at your new address.
Energy concession for asylum seekers
If you are a verified asylum seeker and your principal place of residence is in South Australia, you can apply for an energy concession through your Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS) if you:
Are receiving case management and/or support from an organisation contracted by the Department of Home Affairs to provide services under the SRSS program
Meet low income requirements
Hold an energy account in your name for your principal place of residence
Are not living with anyone who earns more than $3,000 per year.

SA Medical heating and cooling concession
The Medical Heating and Cooling Concession assist South Australians on a fixed or low income who have a clinically verified medical condition which requires the frequent use of heating or cooling in the home to prevent the severe worsening of their condition.
The concession will be indexed each financial year and is currently $226.67 per year. The concession is available to eligible applicants in addition to the current energy concession.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
-Live at the address on the application form
-Have, or be the parent or legal guardian of, a child who has a qualifying medical condition requiring cooling or heating to prevent severe worsening of their condition
-Provide certification from their medical specialist or general practitioner that the medical condition is severely worsened by hot or cold weather
-Use an air conditioning unit at that address to meet their medical heating and cooling requirements
-Be financially responsible for the full or part payment of the energy bill
-Hold an eligible concession card or receive an eligible Centrelink payment.

Home dialysis electricity concession
SA Health provides an electricity concession for patients with kidney disease that receive dialysis treatment at home.
Patients will receive $165 annually, debited to their bank account, to contribute to the running cost of dialysis equipment at home.
Eligibility for concession
Any person undergoing dialysis treatment at home is eligible provided that the concession has been approved by a SA Health practitioner.
The electricity concession will complement existing concessions administered by the Government of South Australia and the Australian Government for the use of medical equipment at home.
How to apply
Applications for the electricity concession can be made through the renal unit where treatment is received.
To claim the concession you will need to fill out a Dialysis Concession Application form (DOC 340KB) (opens in a new window) and a Vendor Creation/Amendment form (PDF 88KB) (opens in a new window). These forms are also available from your renal unit.
The forms will need to be completed by you and your health practitioner and returned to your renal unit for processing.

Hardship programs for people with financial difficulties
If you are experiencing temporary or long-term financial difficulties, you should contact Elysian Energy as soon as possible on 1300671799 and ask to enter our hardship program.
SA Emergency Electricity Payment Scheme
You may be able to get an Emergency Electricity Payment Scheme (EEPS) payment if you’re at risk of your electricity being disconnected. EEPS is only accessible through financial counsellors (see below), who will assess your financial situation before lodging an application. You can only receive an EEPS payment once every three years.

ConnectEd is a South Australian government-funded program that provides information and individual case management to help you manage your energy, water and telecommunications use and bills. If you have high energy bills, you may also be able to get a home energy visit from a qualified assessor.

Concession card holders may be required to change energy plan to receive a concessions on their energy bill.
Centrepay
A free and voluntary service to pay bills and expenses as regular deductions from your Centrelink payments.
You can start, change or stop using Centrepay whenever you like.
You can use it for your regular bills and other ongoing expenses, such as rent, electricity and phone.
You’ll need to give Centrelink (Services Australia) permission to pay your bills using part of your payment.
You must contact Centrelink to set up the Centrepay payment(s):
Online using your Centrelink online account through myGov
Using the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app on your mobile device
At a service centre with help from our staff
By calling us on your regular payment number.
You must tell them:
That you want to pay Elysian Energy (ID 555 127 821 B)
How much you want to pay Elysian Energy; and
Which Centrelink payment you want the money to come from.
Centrelink take money from your payment before you get it and send it to Elysian Energy
Centrelink take out of your Centrepay deductions from your Centrelink payment last.
Other amounts Centrelink deduct first are:
Participation penalty amounts and non-payment periods
Weekly payment amount, if you get your payments weekly
Urgent and advance repayment amounts
Debt repayments
- Child support payments
- Tax deductions
- Amounts directed to your Income Management account
- Government housing rent deductions as part of the Rent Deduction Scheme.
- Centrelink don’t charge you to use Centrepay.
- Centrelink charge Elysian Energy a fee to accept Centrepay for your bills.
- Centrepay gives you control
- You can start, change or stop deductions at any time.
For example, you can:
- Set a target amount for when they’ll stop
- Set an end date for them to stop within the next 12 months
- Choose which bills Centrepay pay first
- Change the amount if your bill goes up or down
- Change the amount for up to 13 weeks, then go back to the previous amount
- Pause them for up to 13 weeks, then they’ll start again.
- While Centrepay lets you manage your payments you still need to meet your obligations to pay Elysian Energy .
